An Imamate or teacher should not be the only means of life.
Mufti Abul Hasan Da:ba: One of the most prominent scholars of Bangladesh and a successful businessman. Born in Dumuria village of Nazirpur police station in Pirojpur district. He received his primary education in Kotalipara. Then in Nazirpur Ponakhali Madrasa and Gopalganj Tungipara Banshbaria Madrasa. In 2002, he completed his Dawra Hadith from Gahardanga Madrasa established by Hazrat Sadar Sahib (RA). From there, he came to Dhaka to study Ifta. He started teaching in Sirajganj. When Abrar was established in Kamrangirchar, he moved to Dhaka. Since the establishment of Jamiatul Abrar, he has served as a senior teacher and Nazim-e-Talimat. Currently, he is serving as the Nayeb-e-Muhtamim of this institution. In addition, he has founded many institutions. Which are run in their own buildings. Khademul Islam Women’s Madrasa, Jamia Islahunnesa Baro Gram. He established Iqra Islamia Madrasa in his home in Pirojpur. Along with teaching, he felt that along with the great service of knowledge and religion, it is necessary for scholars to establish themselves in business. First, he opened a phone fax and confectionery shop. Then he entered the cloth business, PVC industry (proprietor of Dream Line Pipe) and then turned to real estate. He built many apartment buildings and a few joint ventures with others based in the area. He is currently the chairman of Zamzam Developers and Real Estate Limited and Rafraf Builders Limited.

He also has his own company named Dream Line Properties and Construction Limited. He is currently serving as the chairman of the company. Apart from this, he is also involved in social activities in his area. He has organized Eidgahs in mosques and madrasas in the area. He is also the secretary of the Nazirpur Thana Ulama Management Council of Pirojpur. He spends his time busy with the teachings, business and activities of the scholars, which is a completely non-political organization.

Mufti Abul Hasan’s Inspiration: Establishing a reformist Qawmi Madrasa was my dream. Through which the students’ time will be safeguarded and it will be acceptable in all sectors. Moreover, the way a class looks at Qawmi scholars with a look of neglect, pointing fingers at their eyes, showing the talent of Qawmi scholars. A real reflection of that is the integrated form of Nezami, Madani and modern education in Kamrangirchar Darse Jamiatul Abrar Dhaka. Along with this, I wanted a scholar to run a site business along with Darse. Madrasa teaching and Imamate should not be his only means of movement. It was from this inspiration that I was originally motivated to run a business along with Darse-Tadris. I have faced all the adversities and obstacles. However, now I consider myself successful.

Today, many madrasas have been established in the country following our reformist syllabus. And many have become prosperous by investing and giving time by running a site business. On whose promise, even though I am a child of an ordinary family, I now rather pay zakat. I live in my own building, not in a rented house. I don’t run a madrasa on rent, I run a madrasa in my own building. In that sense, I call myself successful.

My message to the scholars: I would like to request the responsible persons of every madrasa to reform their syllabus according to the needs of the age. Every scholar will be engaged in religious activities, but will have a side business so that they can contribute financially to social service work and provide new employment opportunities. If a section of the scholars can continue these works along with serving the religion, then the country and society will benefit more from them.
